Posterior Pituitary Gland
Vasopressin is released from
the posterior pituitary
gland into the circulation
and reaches the kidneys. Its
action on the distal
convoluted tubule causes an
increase in water
permeability and subsequent
water reabsorption by the
body.
Aldosterone is released from
the adrenal cortex and acts
on the distal convoluted
tubule to make it more
permeable to sodium to allow
for sodium reuptake by the
body.
