Satiety Center
Serotonin is synthesized and
stored in synaptic vesicles
at the nerve terminal.
Serotonin activates 5HT2A
and 5HT2C receptors, which
are responsible for the
control of the appetite in
the POMC neurons. These
neurons will secrete
alpha-MSH. This hormone will
stimulate the satiety
center.

POMC neurons
Pargyline inhibits the amine
oxidase B (MAO-B). This
results in the decrease of
the metabolism of serotonin.
This inhibition results in
increased levels of
serotonin in the cytosol of
the neurons.
